Why make your own baby food?

You don’t have to be a chef to make your own baby food.

Commercial infant formula, while convenient, loses vitamins and nutrients during processing, as well as the “sweetness” that encourages babies to try new foods and combinations.

These 21 easy recipes are quick, cheap, and best of all, probably more nutritious than what’s on the supermarket shelf.

Is your baby ready for solid food?

In its 2015 publication, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting up to 6 months before starting solids, but some people start solids as early as 4 months.

Infants who start eating solid foods at 6 months have a lower risk of allergies and asthma, according to a 2014 study.

The most important thing is that your baby can sit upright and hold his head up. It’s also important that they show an interest in solid foods. With the approval of your child’s pediatrician, you can bring your child’s first food!

Notes

Points to keep in mind when considering baby food:

  • New eaters only need about 1 to 2 tablespoons of food, so keep it small.
  • Be aware of allergies, especially when feeding your child foods that contain common allergens. Common allergens are eggs, peanuts, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish.
  • The latest evidence suggests that there is no benefit in delaying the introduction of these foods by more than 6 months or in a specific order.
  • Most importantly, don’t forget to have fun!

Some people prefer organic, wild, pasture and grass fed as much as possible. Some foods may contain high levels of pesticide residues, including:

  • Apple
  • Peach

  • Potato

4 to 6 months old

If your baby is 4 to 6 months old, you should use a simple one-ingredient puree.

This can help you identify and identify food allergies or sensitivities. Once you’ve demonstrated your child’s tolerance for individual foods, you can experiment with combinations to improve tastes and preferences.

1. Peas mash

Peas are a small but powerful food source containing vitamins A and C, iron, protein and calcium.

If the skins of the peas make the texture less appealing to your child, make sure to strain them to make them as smooth as possible.

2. Banana mash

Bananas are often referred to as the “perfect” food and are rich in potassium and fiber.

Bananas are also known as nature’s antacid and are very gentle on the stomach. While bananas are one of the best go-to foods for babies, be careful not to overdo them. Eating too many bananas can cause constipation.

3. Brown baby rice muesli

Rice flakes are one of the most imported foods because they are less allergenic and easy to digest.

Mixing to a fairly thin consistency can help babies transition from an all-liquid diet to a more solid diet. The same procedure applies to steel oats.

4. Guacamole

This buttery snack is an excellent “good fat” food that helps your baby’s brain and body develop. Also, babies seem to love the creamy texture of fully ripe avocados.

To prevent browning, add the avocado seeds to the puree while cooling.

5. Baked sweet potato mash

Enlightened adults eat sweet potatoes for health. Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber, so it makes sense that your baby could benefit from this delicious tuber, too.

A simple puree with a little water or baby milk makes for a delicious and nutritious first meal.

6. The first carrot puree

Carrots are a great introduction to solid foods due to their natural sweetness and pleasant texture.

This simple carrot blend provides a rich source of antioxidant beta-carotene and vitamin A.

7 to 9 months old

For babies 7-9 months old, you can use a variety of ingredients to make a thicker puree.

Remember to introduce one new ingredient at a time, and combine foods you know you won’t be allergic to. You can also add meat and other proteins at this stage, or even earlier if your pediatrician agrees.

7. Pumpkin thyme puree

This simple and elegant seasonal recipe is packed with beta-carotene, potassium and iron. Make a big batch and freeze it in single-serving ice cube trays for later!

8. First Spinach with White Yam

This simple combination of spinach and sweet potatoes adds a healthy dose of calcium, iron, vitamin A and folic acid to your baby’s diet. The yam adds a hint of sweetness for a pleasant green introduction.

9. Beet Blueberry Sauce

Not only does this blend have a beautiful magenta hue, it’s also a nutritious combination of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber.

You can also mix this puree with some cereal for a delicious breakfast for your baby.

10. Avocado Banana Baby Food

It’s a combination of two wonderful foods: avocados (good fat and fiber) and bananas (potassium and vitamin C).

The banana also adds a little sweetness, breaking up the usually dense mashed avocado. No sugar added, sticking to the natural sweetness of baby ingredients.

11. Vegetables and soles

A delicious combination of potatoes, carrots, peas and fish ready in 8 minutes

Vegetables are a seasoning ingredient in this recipe and can also be used in Mrs. Dash, another low-sodium seasoning. This is a great, simple introduction to fishing for your baby.

12. Butternut Squash and Pear Puree

Butternut squash is a great ingredient because it rarely causes allergies. Pears add extra sweetness to this recipe.

13. Papaya puree

Papaya is more acidic than many other fruits, so it’s best to wait until your baby is 7 or 8 months old to eat it.

The enzymes in papaya (and pineapple) aid in digestion, so it’s the perfect food to relieve constipation or your baby’s tummy discomfort.

9 to 12 months old

At 9-12 months, your baby may prefer thicker purees and purees. You can also add dairy products, such as cheese or yogurt, to your meals.

At this stage, many babies can even turn to adult foods and complex combinations, chopped or softened.

14. White fish carrot and leek puree

This puree combination is a hearty brain booster.

16. Baby Beef Stew

This baby-friendly version of this classic comfort food is rich in iron, thanks to beef. This recipe requires more prep time than other baby food recipes, but will leave your house smelling great.

17. Raw baby puree made with blueberries, mango, avocado and mild chili

Another nutritious combo, this recipe combines creamy avocado, tangy mango, blueberries and fun green chiles!

18. Creamy Provence Chicken

This dish features Herbs Provence, a mild spice blend that can help your child explore more exciting flavors without adding salt.

19. Quinoa mashed banana

quinoa is a protein-rich grain that makes a great addition to your growing baby’s diet. This gives mashed bananas an exciting new texture, an ingredient your baby may already love.

Also try serving your baby cooked quinoa. The cooked seeds stick to your baby’s fingers, making it easy to eat.

20. Greek Yogurt Puree with Cherries and Mint

This homemade cherry puree is a delicious topping for a yogurt base. Be sure to use full-fat yogurt!

21+. Apricot and banana cinnamon dish

Spice up your baby’s diet with a dash of cinnamon.

For a delicious breakfast, try adding this puree to some cereal or cooked oatmeal, which can also be a delicious breakfast.
